For some New Orleans Saints Players, Mother Nature has become like that one night stand who gave them an STD in college, only to show up at their door a few years later demanding child support for the baby no one ever knew about. (Yeah, Ron Mexico. You know what I’m talking about.) A handful of players who weren’t with the team during the hellish nightmare that was Hurricane Katrina now find themselves faced with an equally destructive and indiscriminate force of nature: Wildfires.
Drew Brees, Scott Fujita, and Reggie Bush all have reason to keep an eye on the wildfires terrorizing the people of Southern California. Brees has a home there, Fujita’s family lives there, and Reggie Bush’s parents and brother live there. Brees says his home was spared any major damage, other than some soot on the countertop and floors. But according to an article on nola.com, the weather gods still found a way to bitch slap the quarterback, in the form of six inches of water in his Uptown New Orleans home thanks to Monday’s storms.
As for linebacker Scott Fujita, whose family lives in Southern Cal, he says so far everything and everyone is ok. Reggie Bush, in typical Reggie Bush diva fashion, was too busy to comment on if and how his family has been impacted.
The good news is, the players are keeping things in perspective. Brees told the media he didn’t have time to pitch a fit over his flooded out basement after watching the destruction in San Diego, saying “No matter what’s going on in your life, somebody else has got it a lot worse.”
That’s exactly how I feel when I watch the Miami Dolphins.

Thanks ladies!
Fire is fun when you are playing with it, but when it comes after you or your house, there is only one thing to do….run.
I had come home (to New Orleans….duh) for a a week or so and returned to Cali to wildfires. Sucks. I don’t know which to hate more. Fire or water…..
Dig the site!
Talk about your sucky options NOLA’s Wild Pitch! We lost our house in the waters of Katrina, which blew big time. Although, I’m pretty sure losing it to a wildfire fire wouldn’t have made us feel any better or worse. To sum it all up, Mother Nature’s a dirty ho!
